Riding the "Caro-horse"

Ellie and Nathan earned certificates from the reading program at the library for a ride on the carousel (or "caro-horse" as Ellie and Nathan call it) at the park, and today they wanted to use them. I thought Jonah would be sad that he didn't get to ride, but he was happy to just watch.

It's always fun to watch kids on the carousel, waving and saying "hi Mom!" every time they come around.

Nathan was especially excited to see me each time.

Ellie has been saving up her money earned from doing jobs around the house, and today she wanted to spend her money on cotton candy. She was so proud as she walked up to the counter and put her change down.

Ellie is excited to share with her brothers when they wake up from naps, but I'm not looking forward to the sugar high...

7 Little Strawberries

We moved our strawberry plants closer to the house this year, so we weren't expecting many strawberries due to the shock of being transplanted. Last night, however, I picked 7 cute little strawberries!

Sam and I shared them since the kids were in bed, and they were delicious! Yay for gardening!

6 Months Old

I can't believe this cute little boy is 6 months old already!

He can sit up on his own, (though we don't ever put him on the table like this... He was just looking very dapper in his big boy clothes on Sunday so I shot a quick picture as we ran out the door) and he pushes up to his hands and knees and rocks back and forth... Sometimes onto his face. Poor little guy! He gurgles, smiles and laughs, and is just all around in a very cute stage.

He started eating a little bit of solid food, and he likes baby oatmeal, tolerates apple sauce, and loves bananas and avocados. It will be fun to see what other foods he likes as he gets older.

He loves it when people get down on his level and talk to him - especially his dad and siblings. He has a gigantic smile that he reserves for them.

He still loves to bounce in his jumperoo, and still likes to be swaddled at night and for naps.

He absolutely LOVES to play in the water. He doesn't even mind if it is cold, like at the splash park - he just splashes around, happy as can be.

He still doesn't care to be restrained - he hates the baby carrier, doesn't like the stroller unless he has something interesting to look at, doesn't like to sit on anyone's lap, and he doesn't like to sit in his high chair for any longer than necessary. But he does love to be carried around, and he is more than happy to roll around on the floor and play.

We are so glad to have this little boy in our family!

Making a boring spaghetti dinner a little more interesting...

For them and us!
